Browsfurrow, eyes lazily meeting hers. The words mean little to the former priest, seeing as such a thing would be good for their family dynamic and money was absolutely no problem. On the other hand, he knew her career was what gave her that poised gleam in her eye, assisted her in her quest for clarity. [ x ] there’s a thick swallow. there is nothing that she can’t handle. so she breathes in slowly & breathes it all out, reorganizing her mind. jonathan & adam had never been part of the plan, but here she was needing both with every inch of herself, needing her jonathan more than she’d ever know how to express. this wasn’t part of the plan but maybe she needed it, too.
her own blue hues find his stormy ones the moment his warm palms cup her cheeks. emotion backlogs behind her eyes as he regards her with so much support & gentility. she can’t handle it right now, her heart clenching. a distant was i not good enough mumbled in the back of her mind as she blushes up at him. a slight lean into his affection as she sighs & flutters her lashes. he made her so weak.

Hehesitates, burping towel draped over a broad shoulder. Amber hues scan her tired form as he assesses the day’s past events. “Yes” He mumbles with half-certainty. “Oh, yes, I did. Our little man was very good at the store today.” Words are cooed with a gentle yet beaming pride, light orbs dancing to the jovial baby in the highchair at the kitchen island.
[ x ] frustration ebbs. a spike of annoyance rising at the first yes. the emotion is weakness, though, so there’s a blink and the slate is wiped clean. he’s looking around now & her gaze follows him now, along his figure. up to his features, inwardly softening marginally as she sees him express such open and warm emotion. life springs to her own expression, unchanged but softened as she turns her eyes towards their baby boy. shoulders relax some, blinking a few times as her teeth tug over her bottom tier. she sits up straight, turning her eyes away from adam. “i got demoted.”
[ x ] “did you buy the formula?” she asks him clearly, looking up at him with an expectant expression, the pressure in her chest visible. she may have had a difficult day at work, but she just breathes in and out, releasing it out into the world. a blink and she tilts her head to the side.
